von Rycknell Brewery - Josh Weikert, Brewer
About the Brewery
The Weikert family hails from the Winterhausen region of northwest Bavaria, and ruled over the barony of Little Coppell, where the family name was originally von Rycknell. The original Baron von Rycknell’s arms featured a scarlet field overlaid with a grey chevron, symbolizing protection and military skill. The arms were affixed with a peregrine falcon and three pomegranates, symbolic of persistence and prosperity.
In the German tradition, the title of "Baron" is passed on not only to the first male descendant, but all male descendants. Since that makes the Brewer a four-centuries-removed Baron von Rycknell, it seemed the least he could do to name a brewery after the old man by way of thanks.
