Ah, winter brewing - the time when we make all of those crisp lagers for the summer! SCH has been busy - we hosted our fifth annual SCH Amateur Brewing Championship (with over 300 entries, a new record), participated in the Keystone Barrel Brew Challenge (our Bourbon Barrel Sticke Alt is aging nicely), and our annual Winter Social rings in the new brewing year!
The final leg of the EPHY competition is now in the books: for the first time, an SCH member has won the cup! Be sure to check your standings on the Homebrewer of the Year page, and don't miss your chance to move up the leaderboard for the only year-long brewing competition in the area (wouldn't you love to be able to brag all next year that you were highest in your club?). It's too late for this year, but there's always 2013!

SCH is committed to sharing the pleasures of homebrewing with brewers and non-brewers alike. For brewers, we offer a collection of battle-tested and award-winning recipes (extract and all-grain), tasting and evaluation by BJCP-approved judges, brewing and beer education, and social events for brewers and families alike. For non-brewers, we offer all of that in a slightly more tipsy state as you become unofficial “tasters” for the homebrewed awesomeness produced by our members. Our monthly meetings are held at the Appalachian Brewing Co. on the second Thursday of every month, and serve as a great night out in addition to being educational and entertaining.
For the competitive, we host an annual competition (Stoney Creek Homebrewers Amateur Brewing Championship), administer the Eastern Pa. Homebrewer of the Year (EPHY) competition, and are active participants in AHA Club-Only Competitions. For those in it for the artistic and culinary adventure, our specialty brewers have produced a number of award-winning concoctions (Peppermint Stout or Triple Berry Bock, anyone?), and are on hand to offer advice on how to make that Taco Vienna Lager you dream about…
